Oil filter Mahle or Mann
replaced in the last month: power steering rack power steering pump serp belt oil pressure sending unit rotors and pads suspension: KW V2 coils (1200mi) have stock also wheels: Rotiform BLQ machined 19x8.5
replace the oil filter with a German oil filter (Mann, Mahle, Kenelt(sp?)), check the air filter, replace if dirty
I like the Mahle filter because it has a notched end on it, no need for a filter wrench anymore.
i use nothing but TOTAL oil and MANN filters straight from germany how can u go wrong and BTW for all you guys that use mobil 1 its horrible for dub motors you might as well be using exxon brand oil!
I only use Mann, Mahle, Hengst
I just recently purchased a mahle oil filter and it is made in austria, good to hear good quality stuff is still available after mann has let me down.
Bosch and Mann would be the original VW suppliers so you can source them cheaper .
The /30 is rated for 30,000 Km the older /5 was rated for 10,000 Km /30 uses synthetic fibers for longer lasting oil changes. /5 uses Paper fiber that does not last more than 10K. If you plan on changing your oil before 10,000Km you are ok using either one. I used to change my oil every 15,000 KM (back in 1993) using old /5 filter. I changed the filter half way through at 7000Km. Now with the new /30 filter I go full 15K on same oil filter.
My experience is similar - 231,500 km (146k miles) on my VR6, has run excellent, M1 10w30 and Mann filters about every 7500km. No internal work done on it.
ooooohhh thanks for the tip. oh yeah, mahle oil filter, new cable bushings, new rubber type valve cover gasket seal, valve cover gasket studs, dipstick bushings, oil, and myriad other things are waiting to go in...
