Oil filter Mann or OEM Toyota
Oil Changes are done every 7,500km (VW calls for 15,000km). Always done with Fuchs/Liqui Moly/Motul full synthetic oil (5W-40) and MANN filter.
Oil and filter every 5k miles give or take a couple hundred. Air filter... when it gets dirty or once a year. Which ever is first. Most of the time it is the year.
every 5k miles for me to stave off the inevitable HG issue. 160k miles on a 3rd gen which is notorius for HG problems if you don't change your oil.
this picture is an OEM [MANN] oil filter that is 2k past due on the oil service. Again, the advantage of paper filters is that I can see every single one and determine which seems to hold up and which do not. I do not cut open the metal canister versions unless I am looking for something [aka diagnosis]. Some of the really cheap ones will break apart when you take them out of the housing. They literally break apart in your hands. This filter is not collapsed like the Wix version.
As Epic said, ive run Mann filters on my 944.
Mann W71922 is a perfectly good filter and readily available, and the Mahle OC46 for the 928 will fit a 944, it's just taller. Also should be readily available.
This is normal. Funnily enough, a Toyota dealer is probably the cheapest place to get a 0w20 oil change (TGMO from Exxon-Mobil) and OE filter for your vehicle.
If zero rust, go for it. Mann, Mahle, or Kayser filter.
Used some Rowe VW 508/509.00 0W20 oil plus Mann filter.
I always thought the filter caught all of that stuff, I mean yea it got the bigger pieces but I wasn't expecting it to let all of that fine stuff through. Honestly makes me question how good the OEM Mann filters really are?
