Oil filter Mobil or STP
I ran Mobil 1 filters on my '05 Xterra because I picked up several M1 oil change specials at one of the parts stores and found the truck sounded better at idle so I kept using them.
Mobil 1 M1-108's for the Infiniti/my wife's Legacy. And the Extended Performance oil along with it. Been doing slightly extended drain intervals on multiple vehicles for close to 15 years with no ill effects. Valvetrains are exceptionally clean on any of the previous vehicles where i've pulled the covers.
I have recently switched back from a K&N to a Mobile 1 oil filter. It seems to be better no ticking noise.
Personally I run synthetic oil 7000 miles(I have had it tested at Blackstone labs and the results show it's still good at that time) before I change it and I change it and the filter(very important) at that time.
I'd like to add that the oil pressure appeared normal after installing the Mobile 1 filter. The Mobile 1 filter is about half an inch longer than the RE filter, and I read that different sized oil filters can cause the oil pressure to drop, but my indicator was not lit during any of my test riding.
I searched the web far and wide, and there are zero specs on the RE oil filter---anywhere. So, I went to Walmart and brought the old RE filter with me, and compared it to several different sizes available at the store. I settled on the Mobil 1 M1-107A. The thread shaft width and gasket diameter seem to be an exact match, and it seemed to screw on perfectly. I changed the oil and filter, warmed it up, and took a short ride around town. Nothing leaking so far, engine seems to be performing and sounding right. I'm not sure if it was just my imagination or not, but it seemed to achieve greater speeds this time around while at lower RPMs.
I've been using mobile 1 5w30 with mobile 1 filter.
0w20 Mobil one synthetic and Mobil one filter since 50,000 km to now 205,000km on my 2014 mazda3. Engine runs great.
Mobil 1 full synth, or castrol full here as well, and usually their filters.. Yearly oil changes for me by my driving, and I change the filter every oil change instead of every other
That M1 filter looks like the same media as every other filter I've ever seen on an FSI. The funny looking seal on the ends is useless since it's bathed in oil anyway. The only seal that matters is the one that sits in the housing and since I've never seen it leak I'd say that one is a waste of money
