Oil filter Motorcraft or VALVOLINE
Personally I’ll ONLY use the manufacturer filters on my vehicles and I’ll look through the catalogs to find the largest filter that fits. I’ve been using Motorcraft FL1As on my pu for the 28 years I’ve owned it and it’s cheap insurance.
I've always had good luck with the FL 820s in a 3.0.
For oil filter, I run the same one on my 302 and 390: Motorcraft FL-1A. I believe it is (or was, at least) made by Purolator and is my go-to for my old Ford V8s.
I have been unfortunate enough to be underneath a customers car, taking the oil filter off, when they decided to fire it up. If that Valvoline didn't put the filter on right, you would have known driving home not In a month.
I use Motorcaft synthetic oil and filter. It's what the manufacturer recommends. There are probably 50 other oils out there that are just fine for regular driving and the occasional burnout. I just tend to stick with what the people who designed the engine would recommend over what someone on the internet does, unless there is a clear reason not to. And if you disagree, you do you.
Oem is pretty much everyone’s go to ( for good reasons ) but valvoline actually has an updated filter for our cars that matches oem & I’ve been using them for last 6 oil changes ( 30,000km ) & I’ve had 0 issues
I use Valvoline advanced full synthetic or quaker state full synthetic, and those oils seem to hold up very well (ive tried plenty of different brands) and you can buy it anywhere for top off oil. I have been interested in using liquimoly though. For filters, i use k&n, wix, or the nissan oem.
Penzoil ultra platinum with a Motorcraft oil filter.
My feeling is pick any reputable fully synthetic oil and stick to it. Make sure to change more sooner than later.
But my feeling is the filter makes all the difference some of those OE spec aftermarket are not as much OE spec. The Motorcraft filter has specific bypass valves that allow optimal oil pressure when you need it. This is crucial for a healthy 5.0 coyote motor.
Go on Groupon and look for shops in your area. I get coupons for Valvoline and they’ve always been good to me. I save a good bit as well!
Their most recent mistake cost me my entire vehicle. They put my oil filter cover on without an oil filter. This caused debris from less than three months to create enough friction to blow a piston arm in my engine.
