Oil filter Wix or Castrol
I wouldn’t worry about who does the service. Just don’t use shitty Filters. Use OEM or Wix.
I used the WIX as it looked like it matched the dealer installed filter better. It also has internal O rings that seem to seal it better on the shaft.
For filters I have never been done wrong by wix. Price is right and the quality is there. I converted my hilux to use wix 51515 filters because I was sick of ordering them from australia for $40 each, and definitely not buying the $80 one I could get locally. Now my filters cost me like $7. Will pay for the cost of the conversion in a couple years of oil changes.
A good filter is $15 (I use Wix XP) and I get my full synthetic oil at Costco whenever it goes on sale for $3/qt.
I don't know about a lot of different oil filter manufacturers but a wix and Napa are the same and a good quality filter. Wix makes a lot of different brands and I think they are the best.
I use a wix filter that has a filter key that attaches to my ratchet. Never get oiled up all!
I bought a 12 pack of wix for my 8th gen, never had a problem and I’ve used 11 of them so far.
Im a wix guy personally and have read good things about them in the past. Ive subjected my car to a couple dozen track events with temps exceeding 280 degrees and have Blackstone Lab reports that have come back fine and "within spec" for their analysis. This is enough for me to keep using them.
Had a conversation with a WIX rep and was told their best filter is done filtering around the 5000 mile range.
Wanna see what a Wix filter looks like after less than 10k and 1 year of driving. Notice how the paper media pulled away from the rubber support. Notice that the filter has been sucked in.
