Oil filter Wix or Hengst
I use Mobil 1 with either a Wix or Mobil 1 filter.
At the recommendation of several others, I put a Wix in mine when I bought my Fit last year.
Both Wix and Purolator are made by the same company, Mann & Hummel so the top of the line filters (Purolator Boss & Wix XP) are about identical. IDK about the 20k mile one, haven't touched it yet but it should be on par or better than the Boss.
You can't go wrong with either as they are some of my favorite filters on the market due to how clean the internal construction & how solid the material quality is. The highest end Frams are fine to run but still not as good as Wix or Purolator, and nothing below Frams highest line is worth running imo.
Wix everything. It's the only filter I use in mine and customer cars. I've probably used 3,000 + over the last 20 years
I've had no issue with the WIX filters for my last two oil changes
i keep using wix and haven’t had any issues
Subarus are honestly for the most part pretty easy to work on. Oil + filter changes are very easy. 30 ft/lbs, only use oem or wix filter imo
DIY. Kirkland 0w20 full synthetic 5qt - 4-pack (20qt total) for $70. Buy a few WIX oil filters off Amazon for $10-12 each, and for $100 you can do 3 oil changes in your driveway.
Wix are better than fram or microgard but they dont beat factory, they restrict oil flow more
since vw started using the synthetic material i am very fond of using oem. ive never seen the synthetic material deteriorate or crush in the housing between oil changes. ive also seen the plastic on those types of hengst filters break apart and that scares me to use.
