Shock absorbers Bilstein or KYB
Switched to Bilstein 5100 and have always had them in the rear. I’m mostly pavement unfortunately and it’s been great
I decided to swap in the Bilstein 5100s, gotta say they ride a lot nicer when the truck is empty--We'll see how they do with a gear load on the next road trip.
I put Sachs in all the Mk1 front ends that I work on, including my own. For the rear, I use KYB Gas Adjust, because I haul and tow with mine, and I want the shocks to be stiff.
Save money and go 4600 if you don’t care about lift. Mine have really improved the ride.
I actually just got down putting on some rear KYB shocks for my ole gurl.
I used Eibach springs on mine and Bilstein shocks it looks good and doesn't ride that bad its def rougher but its not that bad it looks 10 times better tho
I'm on Bilstein B8. Love it. I've had the Bilsteins on 3 different cars so obviously a fan. Bilstein are surely firmer than stock but not too much
I've got the B6 DCC on my 19 Golf R. Overall I really like this upgrade. I will say that I don't think the Bilsteins made a world of difference compared to the OEM shocks/struts, but the springs seem to have the car more settled and less frantic and ready to bounce off the road over every little bump.
Only viable RC option are the Vertex with remote reservoir. I have those in the front with 5100s in the back.
I put the 5100 on my 15 Terrain, I don't like them much. I am mostly hwy driving. They're so stiff, you can feel every crack in the road. The nose dive at corners is gone, but very stiff.
