KYB Shock absorbers

I was looking around for a 2 inch lift for my gen 3 and eventually settled with KYB skorched 4's and King springs. My stock suspension was gone and sagging rear drivers side. The new spring/shock combo is a nice ride, comfy enough, and good for all types of terrain so far.

Pros: nice ride, comfy enough
Cons: not assembled, no bump stops

KYB makes really good shocks. FCS if you are on a budget. Probably the best budget brand. You'll still close to OEM ride but probably would wear out earlier

Pros: close to OEM ride
Cons: wear out earlier

We did just replace the original shocks though. Went cheap with KYB but the ride quality improved tremendously over the worn out shocks.

The ride is "smoother" as in it doesn't bounce nearly as much when taking bumps. It's easier to control. Daughter noticed right away and said it's not throwing her all over the place. Cornering is far better since it doesn't want to roll as much.

Pros: ride quality improved, smoother
Cons: went cheap

KYB Shock absorbers

I bought a few parts back off of it, including the nearly new KYB shocks I put on it that I then put on my sg(they were sg shocks).

Pros: good condition, reusable

The Excel-G (which I believe are called the GR-2 now) are stock replacements. If you just want to freshen things up, they'd be fine, and with a mild drop I think they'd be okay in terms of longevity (but you never know). If you're looking for a performance shock though, the GR-2 is not it.

Pros: stock replacements, fine for freshening, okay longevity
Cons: not for performance
