Spark plug Bosch or Champion
I got champion copper core for my 5.7 hemi which was what the factory had in it. I changed them at 68k and they probably could have gone another 68k they looked virtually new.Ran like a champ and I got them with rebates and at the end of the day they were 1.00 each.
I have a N55, e93 And went through the same back and forth between NGK and Bosch. My car is 100% stock. Ordered ZR5TPP33 Spark Plug - Bosch and the car runs just fine.
My F15 had the Bosch ZR5TPP33-S from the factory. I replaced with ZR5TPP33 when doing the valve cover about 20K miles ago, and no problems so far.
If you change the plugs; use the recommended plugs. I used Bosch Double Iridiums in my truck and they've worked good for 4 years now.
Yes. However as a long time old car mechanic I learned the hard way some new cars are super picky about what spark plugs you put in them. It kind of caught me by surprise. Parts store gave me Bosch plugs their system matched to my GF's Pilot, and it fell on its face hard about a half hour into the next drive.
I don't use spark plugs like that unless the vehicle specifically specs for them. We used to put Bosch W7DTC's in these, or at a minimum, just the single electrode version.
I changed the spark plugs on my X5 with Bosch ones. My mechanic showed signs of being upset with me for not bringing the genuine BMW ones... Fast forward to a week ago - the car throws a check engine light and OBD scan shows faulty oxygen sensor heater circuit. My mechanic linked this to the Bosch plugs, suggesting they might not be the correct type. I ended up replacing them with genuine BMW plugs and an O2 sensor, which cleared the codes and improved power. My learning is that Bosch has many SKUs, and it's hard to ensure the exact OE part number, potentially leading to incorrect plug types (e.g., 'double platinum' instead of 'laser iridium') for BMW, costing more in the long run.
I’ve had almost all of them destroy themselves recently.
A few months ago i had a intermittent misfire appear and went to investigate it but when I popped the hood while it was running, the wire on cyl 3 was literally popping and sucking itself in and out with the spark plug core still on. I took the plug out and the ceramic was moving in and out from the threaded bit. So it was gapping and slamming itself together while running.
I changed the one spark plug cause I had a spare ngk, I forgot about changing the rest and now I have a new misfire….. I can now feel the tick from combustion going thru the wires on cyl 1 and 4. So now 2 spark plugs are starting to do the same thing. I will be changing to ngk plugs now and won’t be touching Bosch.
But yeah, switch to another brand and stop using champions.
So Champion sucks, more like Chumpian.
