Spark plug Bosch or OEM FORD
I have used the Bosch Platinum +4's and I like them..... A bit pricey though.
i had a buddy purchase me a set of bosch platinum plugs. i installed the plugs this morning before going to work, removing the old plugs, i found the number 1 and number 2 are wet with fuel. after installing the platinum plugs, i cranked the engine. and it started! the idle was smooth. i took my vw to work today, and the engine pulled smoothly in all rpms!
Plugs have been on for almost 4 days. No problems! Idle and runs smoother! HP feels the same!
The part number I have for the Bosch is 4418. There web sire below only goes up to 2000 EV so I don't know if these are the same as the 2001 + EV. I really love these plugs and ran them in my prior Audi A6. Long lasting, great even spark, no gaping. Bosch claims (see web site) increase power. Maybe?
The plugs that came with our cars from the factory were the Bosch FR8LDC.
I swapped plugs last night and so far no more battery light. I am now on the correct bosch supers While I was getting the flashing battery light I was running bosch supers 2 ranges colder.
I got W7DC spark plugs from the local foreign parts place...performance hasn't been ideal, and I've already looked at some of the other common issues; I'm considering new plugs in part due to fouling (bad CTS, drove with a failed CTS for too long, lots of carbon on the plugs...cleaned them up some, but I'm not convinced they're OK).
I have a strong opinion in not suggesting the Bosch or the Beru. There is a reason that BOSH is no longer the OE spark plug in VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz etc., etc... Stick to the NGK, especially in a VR6, NGK has been OE since the intro of the VR6 six months after Bosh failed to produce a plug that would run in these engine during start up. The Bosch had nothing but running problems.
And I tried both the Bosch and the NGK back to back, and the NGK ran far better than the Bosch. The Bosch were terrible in my case.
I just put Bosch Copper plugs in my 2.0 L Passat and it's running like crap. I think I forgot to gap a couple of the plugs... Would that explain the rough running engine?
