Spark plug Champion or OEM FORD
I had this 8 months ago in my FG
New spark plugs and coil packs fixed it.
I just got a new to me 2016 f150 with 120k. Did air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs (had a misfire) and boots and oil change. I used champion plugs but most reccomend OEM. Got a wix air filter and a fram oil filter. I used full synthetic 5W-20 Valvoline R&P oil. Use rock auto for parts if possible.
Stick with Champion plugs in the 4.0L inline 6. Anything else will have you chasing a “stumbling” idle.
I use champion on my 04. No issues. The more expensive ones that’s when the issues start
I use Champion in my 02. Never had any issues.
Stock Ford ones were $9 a piece at my local dealer…
Some of my best vehicle purchases have been trucks with "misfires" or "engine issues" and almost all of those have had goddamn champion plugs in them, or a champion distributor.
But let this be a lesson never use champion plugs again
During a 300 mile trip in 100 degree weather, my car decided to start shaking horrendously, and the check engine light started blinking. Ford Pass notified me of a cylinder misfire. Apparently the spark plug was missing a piece, and there was extensive damage. Metal debris throughout the engine, turbo charger, multiple lines and drains. Everything has to be replaced.. but luckily it’s all covered by the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty. Such a huge failure at 46k miles is disappointing. I love the car but definitely have trust issues now.
Champion are the only plugs I’ve had the ceramic crack on, so no more Champion for me.
