Spark plug NGK or AC DELCO
I honestly can't say if you're low/high or I was low. What I can say is on my 9A 2.0 16v (rough guesstimate 185k miles)... NGK iridium plugs (standard gap)
I was having some stuttering/mis-firing at high boost on the spark plugs so I switched to the NGK BKR7E with a .028 gap. Right away I noticed a huge improvement but I can't help but feel it could be better.
From my own experiences the raceplugs seem to help with misfire happy maps.
Been using the ngk ones for 10K km so far and they work just like oem, no problems, no misfires.
The racing plugs from NGK are exceptionally expensive, their standard Iridium plug is great as well. I wouldn't spend the money on the racing plug... I've tracked my car with the standard Iridium plug extensively and had no issues with plug wear etc. I personally feel that the racing plug is just taking more money out of your pocket for no gain/return.
I currently have them installed and gapped at .025. I don't know if they're making a difference or not but the car is running great so I haven't bothered switching back to stock.
I just switched out a set of Bosch's for the NGK PFR7S8EG's...and to me it's night and day.
I ran those plugs with zero issues for many years on my stage 2+ car gapped at .028.
I'm at 60k figured, why not throw some new plugs in it for the hell of it. Ordered these as they're certainly not breaking the bank and again, reviews seemed promising. Now, immediately after turning the car on, (despite my disbelief when ppls said the car ran smoother) It actually did. My old plugs weren't in to bad of shape, nothing fouled up, gaps all looked the same, no excessive carbon build up and so on. When driving, engine truly feels very smooth but power doesn't seem as abrupt as it use to be. Before it would kick in and push you back, now its a slow, gradual kick. Almost feels as if I lost power. I have no way of determining how factual this is though. Fuel economy is roughly the same, if not a hair better. (based solely on my drive into work today) i received 24mpg as opposed to the 22-23 i normally get, driving no different than I normally do. Just wondering if anyone else noticed power loss or change in the feel of their car from these plugs. I'm seriously debating putting the old plugs back in, but I want to VAG COM my car first to see if I'm running any misfire codes.
Hey I am just wondering what are the best plugs to get for my jetta? I bought some NGK's from auto zone and I was getting misfires in EVERY cylinder.
