Starter motor OEM Toyota or Denso
I’d only use OE Honda or Denso branded. I used a Denso that ordered from Rock Auto.
I replaced my starter 3 times in 9 months on my rsx.
1. Buy new. I got 2 reman densos that failed within 1 month. Cheap WAI off Amazon was cheaper and new, and it's still working after 6 mo.
Get a Denso starter and you will not have to change it again throughout your ownership of the vehicle.
Go with a Denso starter if you really want quality
I used a denso starter.
It needed a battery and alternator and starter. Starter was the most difficult to do, but I didn\u2019t feel like it was horrible.
I have two Tundras with 2UZs and a 4Runner with a 3UZ swap... None of them have ever needed a starter replacement... I could probably do that job in 45 minutes, which is better than owning any American vehicle.
This is exactly what happened to my 2004 corolla. Working all fine fresh battery alternator everything works had no issues. Next morning went to start it, nothing. I was thinking maybe electrical issue or fuse? All fuses and relays were good. Last resort I though could it be the starter? I’ve heard you can tap a starter with a hammer or wrench and if it attempts to start or actually starts, the starter gear is starting to wear out or issues with the starter solenoid. In my case, the starter teeth were all chewed up and it was crusty inside. Original starter after 168k miles. Fixed the problem. Been good ever since.
I have an 01 sequoia, so same engine and had to do mine at around 250k. It was starting on its way out, slower cranking, occasionally it just wouldn't crank, just typical issues of one needing replaced.
My wife's '06 Range Rover Sport suddenly wouldn't start, just a loud clack, sounds like coming from the starter solenoid. I've worked my way to the starter, I'm thinking it's a bad connection to starter, solenoid contacts, maybe even the starter.
