KYB Strut assembly

About 8 years ago I replaced the OEM struts on my Nissan Altima with KYB. They were still pretty tight (with no apparent leaks) when I got rid of the car about 5 years and 85,000 miles later. Granted, that mileage was probably 90% commuting on SoCal highways.

Pros: pretty tight, no leaks
Vehicle: Nissan Altima
Mileage: 136794 km

KYB Strut assembly

I used KYB. They are the OEM supplier now since Tokico is not around. I bought mine through Rockauto. They frequently have rebates. I didn't buy the complete strut assemblies. I just bought the struts and purchased OEM springs seats, bearings, bellows etc.

Pros: OEM supplier
Vehicle: Lexus
Mileage: 150000 km

KONI Strut assembly

the stock struts were blown out and the car was pogo'ing on large bumps at around 65k mi. Not sure how hard or careless the first owner was but I've never had struts go bad this early but I just replaced with Koni struts and H&R Sport springs. Otherwise, its been running like a champ with all major service kept up

Pros: running like a champ
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 104607 km

KONI Strut assembly

The Str.T is fine for a mild upgrade over OE. I've had them on my car for about 10 years now. I live in Texas, so rust is not an issue. However , if I were doing it all over again, I would spend more for the Koni Sport (Yellow), as I think the Str.T is a touch softer than I would have preferred.

Pros: mild upgrade over OE
Cons: touch softer than preferred

KONI Strut assembly

Since you mention winter...I would stay away from the STR.T line. I bought them a few years ago for my Passat and after the first winter the things started to rust. The problem is the paint; it's garbage - I don't think they were primed, just sprayed orange. Maybe it's a cost-savings area but after the first winter the paint was flaking all over and after the second there was little paint left and heavy surface rust (big time pitting) everywhere.

Cons: paint is garbage, heavy rust
