Thermostat MOPAR or OEM BMW
The OE version is the only one that works. Knock off t-stats will generally last a few weeks to a few months. The OE thermostat has been updated, pops at 203 degrees and lasts much longer than anything else. An OE thermostat seems to fail open. Whereas the knock-offs fail shut.
Thermostat is an bmw part so its fine
Gave up and bought the genuine Mopar stat, haven't had issues since.
Finally got around to replacing the thermostat on my 2000 XJ. Temp rarely hit 210 unless I was idling for a while so I suspected a bad thermostat. Sure enough it was stuck in the open position. I was able to find an OEM one part # 5202 8186AC. 195 degree with a weephole. Noticeable difference in performance and it’s nice to have heat again.
Replace stat with a Mopar 195f unit for optimal results.
03’ E46 318ci with 130k miles and no issues with the whole cooling system. Neither the thermostat.
I replaced the one in my sisters V8 WJ with Mopar and it was made in Israel and very high quality.
Oil cooler and radiator. I changed the thermostat when my radiator went. I would recommend using a mopar thermostat as I had two aftermarket fail on me
I replaced the t-stat with a genuine part and again no luck.
Changed to genuine thermostat, no change. Needle tends to dip on higher load highway driving, but only occasionally. Obd temp is between 77C-88C.
