My wife\u2019s 2012 has been solid for last 5 years we\u2019ve owned it. The only major expense was a new engine due to premature timing chain failure.

Yes they are timing chain. I bought my wife a 2016 sport 5spd new and its almost 80k miles now, only repair is the line going from the res to the slave started leaking, replaced that and all is good, no other leaks, doesn't appear to use any oil between changes and no other repairs.
Pros: no other leaks
Cons: line started leaking

I owned one, put 100k miles on it and never had a single issue with anything that wasn't caused by abuse. At that mileage you will want to listen to the timing chains as it may need new guides and tensioners.
