Tires BFGoodrich or WANLI
Bfg at's. Great in nothing, decent in everything. My favourite all around tire, that doesn't have any drawbacks.
BFG comp 2 a/s
Love my BF-Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S.
I went with the G-Force Comp-2 A/S and paid something like $703 after installation, which also included a road hazard warranty. I found a really good deal and could have gotten some alternatives even cheaper, but the tire was the highest ranked in its category on TireRack. No regrets with the purchase, as these tires significantly outperform the Continental OEMs.
I run 255/40-17 tires on all four corners of my Honda S2000 track day car. I wanted to be able to use those on the R, so I had Adaptec make custom adapters: 15mm thick in front, 25mm thick for the rear. On them I have a set of Hankook RS-3s 255/40-17, a set of Nitto NT01s (same size) and a set of BFG Comp 2 A/S 245/45-17 (my all season go anywhere tires used on the R as a daily driver). I am at stock ride height and none of these tires ever rub.
I was in the same boat and I decided to roll with the BF Goodrich g-force comp 2 A/S tires. So far they're awesome and I have no complaints after about a month.
I recently went through this with my 2012 Passat with 18s on it. I decided to try something different. I did the BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S tires. Very reasonably priced, Z rated, and has extremely good ratings for dry, wet and snow. So far I am very pleased.
If you can afford it I suggest BFG. Michelin bought them, kept their price structure, but imposed Michelin quality controls on production.
just some feedback, stray away from bfg g-force kdw2 if you dont want noise. they handle amazing wet and dry, wearing good. BUT they have alot of road noise. not as much as my winters, but more than i would like.
Went with $99 Wanli Chinese tires for immediate use. Thought how bad can it be just one day on these cheap tires.... WRONG! Wanli S-something bunch of random numbers touring tire: - Terrible road noise. A constant droning HUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :banghead: - Fall apart while turning, car literally felt as if wandering side to side. - For brand new tires they broke traction easily on acceleration. Very poor grip. - Zero feel, I mean the GTI isn't grounded to the ground to start with but this rubber killed off any feel for what the wheels were doing.
