So far (300 miles) I have noticed the following; 1. Bridgestone tires seem to have more wet grip than the Kuhmo's
Outperformed my 02 Cooper S at an AutoX event! I'm also talking about in the rain vs other tires I've had. Blows Michelins, Toyos, Pirellis, Goodyears out of the water no pun intended lol. They also seem to handle side/cornering load well. My continentals were cooked after a few track days and spirited drives while these seem fine. No chunking or odd wear patterns on the edge of the tread/sidewall. Any of those who have tracked will know what I'm referring to.
I had 155/55r14s or something like that on snowflakes and they ran great/handled great. I had to run spacers for the fitment to look right. and on my cups I have 165/45r15s. By far the best performing stretched tires I've ridden. And they can hit a pothole at 70mph and protect the wheel from bending.
My car came with the Toyos and they lasted one summer, in the winter I run Blizzaks. Summer 2012 and 2013 I ran Potenza RE-11s. These has spent 3 weekends at Tail of the Dragon in that time and still have tread left on them to get me into next season and they are stickier than the Toyo Proxes and about $100 per tire cheaper.
Federal 595 are great for the price. $80 for some super sticky stuff
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. I had a set on my previous car. Low noise and great handling.
If you get some Bridgestone Serenity tires, the road noise isn't nearly as bad.
Try, Federal RS-R. It should be equal to XS in performance but cheaper. I have the 195/50/15 on Miata and I think it is better than my previous Falken Azenis.
I have the RSe05 (17x8) with Bridgestone Potenza RE-11A 235/45R17 and I noticed I have slight chunking of the blocks on the outer shoulder after one heavy track weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.
My first snow tire purchase was a set of Blizzak WS-50s and I just couldn't deal with the squirmy feel for the amount of true snow/ice driving I encounter in a season.
