Tires Continental or BFGoodrich
I have Conti Viking Contacts on at the moment. The contis are very quiet.
I specifically asked for the Continental VikingContact 8 on steel rims as the Contis have shown to be almost identical as the Nokian on snow and ice, but much better on cold dry roads and in rain. They also have better fuel economy and wear.
I lived in Chicago and had a summer/all season rotation on my tuned M240i, RWD. Never had any issues on my Continental DWS06 in winter once the roads were treated. They handled snow fine as any RWD, 400hp car should.
I replaced the BF Goodyears on my '68 convertible last year. They were 36 years old. They had about 5k miles on them. They looked brand new inside and out. They have been inside for 99.9% of their life. The same tires are on my '70 Mach 1, at 32 years. Are the new BFGs I put on going to last 36 years, or is the quality not the same?
I did upgrade the tires to a quieter Continentals, from the standard issue goodyear. Its quiet, smooth, comfortable on the 4800 mile trip I took.
I've run the DWS06 all seasons in winter with no problems.
Been on 285/75/16 ko2s for 4 years. I also have a four wheel camper I use in summer, I tow my seadoo too. Separately most of the time but sometimes both. No regear. I run sport 4 with ect on. I can run 70-75, you gotta work her on the passes though. But my trucks been great.
I run continental viking contact 7s. love em.
Continental is pretty much smack bang in middle. not really better at anything, not really worse on anything.
Just put on a fresh pair of Kryptotals on Bontrager tubeless ready rims. Took 4 hours and 7 plastic tire wrench’s to get both tires on. Getting them to seat wasn’t too bad.
