Tires Continental or Firestone
The Indy 500 is slightly better performing, while the RE760 is slightly more comfortable / refined. Which do you prefer? I had a set of the 500s and they were a really good value.
I can recommend continental, Pirelli or Dunlop. They all are pretty expensive but it's worth it, considering how much better they drive on e.g. a wet road or something. have a look at tests, continental is usually #1 or #2, that says pretty much about their quality. I personally only buy Conti and have never been disappointed, my dad has kumho on his car and they are so slippery it's scary.
Have you looked into the Continental ExtremeContact DWS? Discount Tire Direct's eBay account has a sale right now $100 off of $400 with free shipping.
I had my Conti DWS tires installed today. I’ve had them on two previous cars and they’re my pretty phenomenal across a broad range of conditions.
I ran the Continental Extreme DWS on my last M3 year round here in Colorado. They did really well in the summer mountain drives and served me just fine in the snow.
I have them on the MK5 GTI my son drives and will be swapping them onto my 2017 R. Love them for an all around tire.
The DWS' are awesome in the wet. But we had nearly no snow last winter so I can't tell you much about that, but I have high hopes.
Switched out my OEM Conti’s for the DWS 06’s last winter for ski season (So Cal). I have my OEM’s back on for now but once they are worn out I will put the DWS’s back on and never look back.
When the tires are new, or in the first half of their wear, they are almost identical in their performance--both quiet, good wet/dry weather performance and decent in the snow. *But* when I had my bimmer, the Conti's got seemingly harder and louder on the second half of their wear---which is normal for almost any tire with not much tread left.
Conti Motions might be the worst tire I have ever felt on any supersport ever.
