Tires Continental or Maxxis
If its the tires its time to invest in some Continental DWS
I replaced the OE tires with Continental DWS tires and they've been pretty solid. I've got 35k on them at this point and they have good tread remaining. However, I took my car in for rotation recently and they informed me the tires were cupping really badly.
Mine actually came with Continental Pro contact tires. However, I did buy it certified pre owned with 24k miles so I'm not sure if the PO changed them before trading. Whichever, this tires are pretty damn good!!! I'm used to buying Falken Ziex performance tires which I have had on all my previous cars but these seem a lot better. Might have to stick with these now....
Getting around in falling snow packed down I was struggling to get going on some slightly hilly residential hills. I do have the Continental PureContact w/EcoPlus tires and they seem better than the OEM Turanzas during my first 2 winters with the car. Otherwise, the Contis are decent in the snow for stopping and cornering and excellent in the rain
I've heard some awesome things about the continental extreme contact tire in snowy conditions.
Most of my touring has been with gatorskins and ultra gatorskins and I've had very few flats. My favorites, however, are the continental Hardshell. I've been using those for the last 2 years without a single flat.
My '13 VR6 Sport w/navi and the 18" wheels (OEM Continentals, not Goodyears) has been great through its first 9K miles. The ride is fine, tires are quiet enough and seem to be wearing OK
GREAT in the snow and they are quiet, comfortable and handle well in all other conditions.
And yet another vote for the Conti DW. I run them on the FR-S and I'm very happy with them.
I run 2.35s and it certainly doesn't fit super well, however it's not that big of a deal. but if i'm going to have it on the rack for a longer drive I just air down the tire. i run the nevegal dh tire or the maxxis holy roller so the sidewall knobs interfere, I just crank down the straps.
