Tires Falken or Achilles
AT4W - 265/75R/16 stock SR suspension.
Initial weekend thoughts:
- I sit slightly higher with these bigger tires. Just barely enough for me to notice though as I look over my steering wheel. I previously had on the stock 245/75R/16 HW tires.
-MPG’s don’t take a hit on regular roadways up to 45 MPH but getting on the freeway is when I feel some resistance. The truck feels heavier/slower and MPGs are reduced by 2-3 MPGs on the freeway as I’m accelerating more frequently to reach and stay at my desired speed.
-There is virtually no road noise difference from the stock tires, at least not what I’ve been able to tell so far.
-I feel the road more, speed bumps feel more sensitive for example.
-The A/T tread is picking and throwing up some rocks from the road.
I’ve only had them for the weekend so far but I love the functionality of these tires and they also add that desired aggressive look I have been longing for. I’m excited to take these off pavement real soon.
with the Falkens on, the traction is a lot better than the stock Hankooks.
I just got new tires. Went from MT Geolandars to Wildpeak AT4W.
I miss the more aggressive look of the MT but I’m loving the smoother ride of the AT4Ws.
I have Falken Wildpeak AT4W LT285/70R17 on mine and with the rims they weigh about 92lbs each and I’ve had zero problems.
Falken Pro G5 A/S in Southeast Wisconsin. Works well for me all year around.
Falken Wildpeaks are a good value AT compared to some other brands
they were my favorite upgrade. All terrain tires should have been stock!
These tires do not have the same level of grip that the Tempesta P1, RE-71RS, A052s, etc. have, so do not buy these thinking you'll be competitive, because you probably won't be.
Besides that, lets start with the good sides of this tire.
-Very consistent. They do not lose grip even as they get hot, nor do they lack a ton of grip when they're cold.
-Fantastic treadwear. These will definitely last you a couple seasons at the very least. They hold their grip well throughout the entirety of the tread range.
-Responds well to inputs. While these don't have the pure grip of a super 200 tire, they respond well to inputs and are eager to change direction when you need to.
Now lets get to the bad.
-VERY unpredictable. If you start hearing even slight tire squealing, you are right on the limit of grip. These tires snap out from under you easily if you're not careful or don't know the characteristics of these tires.
-Like I said before, these lack a lot of grip compared to the super 200s, but thats kinda something you should expect when buying these tires.
Overall, I'd give the RT615K+ a solid 7/10. They're not very competitive but they're a lot of fun, they're a great tire to learn on, they offer good value in the longevity department, but they're unpredictable compared to some other tires.
I put Falken Ziex (65k) on a Honda Civic 10th Gen. didn’t even make it to 40k. Never again. Rotated every oil change (5k). I know the heat had something to do with it (Florida) but the streets here are smooth as butter.
I replaced to OEM Falken ziex100as as they were horrible in snow on my Mazda.
