Tires Falken or Continental
For stock suspension and even lowered 15mm on coilovers, I have really enjoyed my DWS06+ 235/45/18’s. They ride great, handle better than any all season tire I’ve ever run, and have smashed some serious potholes on the rare occasion that I can’t avoid them.
For me, Falken/Sumitomo has been the perfect balance between value and performance
My Falken tires are extremely affordable and they grip better than my Pirellis in every real-world situation that I’ve needed the grip.
Continental makes great tires. My favorite tires are Continental DWS 06+. I've ran them on 3 cars and will continue doing so indefinitely.
I’ve left extreme contact sport tires on my car down to about 25F a few times. No flat spots. I’ve driven in 33-35F and they definitely had way less grip, but I was careful and it was fine.
Just put on 265/65/18 SL wildpeak at4w on an otherwise stock 2012 GX and can confirm that they will fit with no rubbing. Compared to the Michelin latitudes that were on before, the feel on the road is noticeably better, i.e. more plush but also more planted... if that makes sense. Road noise is minimal difference in my mind but I have a skybox on top so maybe I'm just used to it. Being in pnw, wet traction is a must and these should do the trick.
Lots of people have mentioned gp5k, which are very fast, but continental also sells "all seasons" tires which are kind of best of both worlds between gp5k and gatorskin. Not quite as fast as 5k, not quite as much protection as gatorskin, but very close on both counts.
Continental tires are a bitch to take off and put on. Otherwise, I do stand by their durability and reliability. They're great tires, Gatorskin or not!
GuYs I have had a great experience with continental and I recommend they should be higher on this list.
The road noise is excruciatingly brain fuckingly loud
I drive a base model work truck. It’s $375 each for some falken at discount tires.
