Tires Falken or Firestone
I have a set on one of my Corrados and LOVE them. I've only had them for about 3000 miles so far, but dry grip/handling is amazing, and wet grip really isn't too bad at all. Standing water I would take it a bit slow, but even on a wet road after the rain, they grip/handle pretty well.
I rolled the rt-615 and loved them, More grip than I ever needed/used.
Good luck with yours. I've driven more on mine, and after adjusting my suspension, I am loving them. Good traction at any temperature.
My traction problems are going to occur no matter what street tires I have for sure, but any little bit will help. FWD and over 400hp don't go too well together as far as lower gear traction is concerned. I'll def look into the rt-615s though. Edit: I just ordered 2 to try out. I'll report back
I just had two RT-615's sized 225/45/17 put on the front of my GTI. Now, with that said, these tires are amazing. I haven't even put 100 miles on them yet and they already grip like crazy. I have minimal wheel spin at 22psi through first, and little to none in second gear. With my Yokohama AVS ES100's I would have full spin through first and second unless they were REALLY hot. These tires provide better grip than those even when they are cold.
AZENIS I have had mine just over a year{ still holdin air } and love them maybe one of my favorite tires i have ever had
I run Azenis Sports in 195/60 size. It is a bit taller. However, if performance or street tire class competition is more important, then the Azenis is a good tire. They are THE BEST dry tire around. Wet performance is average.
i'm really happy w/ my decission on the falken 512's.... they've been on prolly 3k miles so far and no problems... and believe me... i have to try REALLY hard to slide out or screetch in them.... also when i torque break for my launches, i can't even peel out anymore, the most i get is a light screetch followed by me being sucked into my seat
I just got a set of Falken Azenis St-115s (225/45/17 from Edgeracing) - only had them on for 200 miles or sobut they are awesome -- so frickin quiet! So tire hum at all!
They turn to hockey pucks on cold enough pavement, snow/ice aside. Winter travel on 615's is a death wish.
