225/40/18 falken ze512's on an 18x8.5" wheel - and those are correctly sized for the mk4 - rolled shoulder extreme...
Falkens are a good tire choice for the price.
I just put these on as summer tires and auto-x tires and the traction after they warm up a little bit is awesome. I used to have trouble even with the F1s spinning in second sometimes. With these I get pretty zero under hard acceleration.
I run my 615r for my daily and on auto cross. One HELL of a tire. The wet grip is amazing. The dry grip is even better. I have yet to break them loose in an autox event. There are gobbs and gobbs of grip. Plus the tread is meaty from the get go.
I have a set on one of my Corrados and LOVE them. I've only had them for about 3000 miles so far, but dry grip/handling is amazing, and wet grip really isn't too bad at all. Standing water I would take it a bit slow, but even on a wet road after the rain, they grip/handle pretty well.
The tires are great in the rain, great in the dry, quiet and give a good ride quality. People have had bad luck with bubbles, yes, but I had no such luck in the past.
They're excellent tires in wet & dry conditions, but as other people have mentioned, they're very prone to sidewall issues and tend to bubble.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 225/40ZR18 Excellent wet tire traction and durability. After 20K miles, they begin to lose their good aquatic capability. Medium to Low noise. Good-Excellent grip with less than 20K miles on them
They handled well, were great in the rain. Wore out quickly and damaged easily.
Same as driving the F1's in the snow. Maybe even a bit worse. Don't even think about it.
