Tires GENERAL TIRE or OEM Volkswagen
Had probably 4 sets of RT43 on different cars. One set went 70,000 miles. Bought them because we get a decent amount of snow here but marginally need snow tires so these are very good in snow and great at everything else with a good price.
High performer with good price makes these a good value buy.
I love them. Have 20,000 miles on mine and 9/32 left. Siping still looks practically new.
Have driven on highway in ongoing snow. Took it slower but absolutely fine. Have driven in pouring rain, absolutely fine. And my mpg went up.
I've always bought Michelin tires. My last set were Michelin Defenders. The belts in one tire began to separate and as a result the ride became a little wobbly so I had to replace them. Also, they were all getting worn quite a bit. I decided to give General AltiMAX RT45 tires a try. A friend had them years ago and was happy with them. I've had them a month now and the ride quality, noise level and handling all all just as good as the Michelins. Time will tell if they remain this way.
I have had excellent results with General Altimax tires, absolutely excellent. I’ve used them on five different vehicles (pickup, two SUVs, and two sedans - one RWD, one FWD) since 2014. I currently have a set of RT45s on one of our current vehicles (SUV), and they’re just as good as can be.
They are correct, get the Generals! I have a 2002 Mercedes S500 and they are wonderful all season tires. Hold tight around corners at highway speeds and they do well for a rear wheel drive in the rain. I've had the Michelins and Goodyears and the General Altimax are amazing tires and they are a great value for what they are.
But the GT ones are by far and away the very best I've had. They're very quiet, have a low rolling resistance, so great for EVs, and the handling in snow is incredible! It's almost like there is no snow even when riding on it.
I also have a Corolla, had some General Altimax 365AWs put on at Walmart for around 120 a tire and they have held up very well in the Massachusetts snow.
i have general altimax rt45s on my nissan sentra, and i live in a state that gets decent snow and have never had a problem
I just got 4 General AltiMax RT45 installed on my 2008 Pontiac vibe. All date codes are 3523, so they are pretty fresh. Only put about 300 miles on them so far. I like them, car handles rain, had slight snow nothing crazy, and dry, drives very nice, not loud, but my issue is a *vibration* I never had before.
With that said the General Grabbers were my least favorite set of tires in terms of their noise and grip while cornering.
