Wind. I see it all the time here in the Southwest. Washboard road patterns emerge like sand dune shifts in the Sahara. Couple that with constant movement from tires on vehicles, it makes it worse.
I had the same isssues with the Michelins so I swapped them for the hankooks.
My car came delivered new with the Hankook (edit: actually Ventus S1) ion evos, so I haven't had a chance to compare with others. I'm in Canada, so similar weather to you. I put on dedicated winter tires however from the short time I spent with the Hankooks in snow I think they're fine at being an all season tire. Not stellar but fine. Wet performance also seems fine. Efficiency is great. However, grip is definitely not the best.
I’m on my second M3. The first came with Michelin the latest on Hankook. The Hankooks are I think slightly quieter but if you enjoy driving definitely go for the Michelin. The Hankooks have very soft sidewalls which gives a slightly soft squishy feel to the steering and much poorer turn in than the Michelin.
I’ll never buy another set of hankook as long as I live. I bought some for my Mercedes when I had that, they wore out in 5000 miles, then they fought me on the tread wear warranty to the point that I just put on a different set of tires and moved on with my life.
Hankook RoadHandler. Not even sure I they still make them but they were 100k mile tires. You could just feel how hard the compound was ny the vehicle handling. It was so easy to squeal those tires when turning as well. They were so loud on top of that. Almost sounded like a worn wheel bearing.
