Tires Kumho or MRF
Recomand!
Just bought these as I was in the market. I like them. A little more firm of a ride but not terrible. Price was right and I am KUMHO fan and that is who makes these for Discount. In summary if money is an object, good value and I would recommend.
Kumho is a well built tire from Korea.
the Kumho TA51 (assuming TA51a as it is the current production) is a well reviewed and tested very low rolling resistance tire, thanks to a silica-enhanced tread compound. Most reviewers and owners over time generally note a small INCREASE in fuel economy of 1-3 MPG.
I am considering replacing my Kumho Crugen tires KL33 (30k miles) with Falkin wildpeak a/t trail tires on my 2018 Santa Fe AWD. The current tires seem okay but I have never really pushed them.
I am super sensitive to sound so road noise is a priority for me. I also had a ****ty experience with the Goodyear Comfortdrives on my Sienna and think those might have been part of why I hated that thing. They got stupid loud and rough riding with more mileage. Similar experience with the RSAs that came on my TLX. Never buying Goodyear again. I dont know how much heavy lifting the car is doing but the Kuhmo Crugers on my ID4 have been dead quiet after nearly 10K miles. They seem to be wearing OK as well. I have no idea how they will do in snow and I'm pretty sure they suck traction wise. But it might be worth looking into EV tires. Low rolling resistance should equate to low noise, though I can't speak to ride quality. ID4's ride is a little choppy but I do keep pressures up for more efficiency. It smooths out on the highway so it might be a German suspension thing.
I am at 14,000 kms after 7 months I checked the tread and was at 6mm so planning to change by 20,000 miles (32,000 kms). I have already reached out to Kumho Warranty but they don't even want to try to work on something with me. I can't see myself spending $1500 to get a new set after this demonstration
Seeing as I am preparing to have to swap them out at 30,000kms I would say they may be one of the worst tires on the market. I do have them (stock) on my EV9 which I have driven relatively gently. Reached out to their warranty department and they refuse to work with me. I don't really want to spend 1500 on a product that drastically underperforms.
