Tires LANDSAIL or Giti
Just took it for my first drive on snowy Boston roads. Slushy really, barely an inch. My impression so far is snow mode clearly retards the Tig's throttle and seems to start in 2nd gear, limiting torque. It feels fairly solid and I didn't feel much slip, even on my own unplowed street.
Performance-wise, I've been happy with my Gitis. At 1/32 of wear at 23K miles, the guy at Discount Tire was impressed.
My SE came with the Giti, never heard of them before. So far so good, but it's only the first year I've had them and I'm at 7000 miles. I'll probably replace them before next winter.
We just had our third major snowfall of the season (11'' here in Denver) and again, I'm quite pleased with the way the Giti's have performed at 19K miles. Traction and braking are above average on packed snow and frozen snow.
I have the Giti's on my R-Line, and they are....barely adequate. I doubt I will wait long to replace them since I do a good bit of highway driving. They are noisy, so I will at least give them a few thousand miles to see how they wear and sound.
Giti tires, at least here in the US, I thought we’re a VW OE thing. Not a very good tire when new, definitely hasn’t gotten better with age.
Back in Dec 2022 I bought a new set of Giti E1 tires from a reseller and got them installed with alignment. The tires felt slippery in the wet even after 3 months of usage. I could feel the rear of the car sliding out even when doing 30-40km/h on a wet right bend.
Landsail tires at 150mph. Yeah would not recommend...
Landsail tires should not be trusted at all, and Darwin will be having a meeting with you at that speed.
Reason I Found this out is one of the NEW giti tires busted a side wall and had to go buy a new tire already after only 4500 miles and when we left the tire shop the TPMS came on so we took it back to check the tire pressure and he said oh you just have to reset it
