Tires MICHELIN or Continental
I have pilot sport 5, my brother has them, my father too, they are a very good tire, but if put dominic toretto mode on they are gone
We bought a set of Michelin WeatherGuard tires at Costco. They are well worth it. We were able to drive in the mountains over ice and snow
I ran the PSAS4 on my Audi Allroad (coming from the factory Continentals) and it made such a difference there's probably nothing else I'd rather run other than to try out the Conti DWS 06+ if it was significantly cheaper. I think the Michelin is just a better tire overall and their specialty tires are basically the leader in the industry.
I like my cc2s for traction in general. Although I have done some stupid shit on the snow with those tires.
Michelin X-Ice for me. They do great in slush and slop too - we got 11” of snow here in Minnesota a last spring and one of the kids and I drove around with shovels and kitty litter helping folks who were stuck, it was unbelievably fun - the Crosstrek is unstoppable with those tires.
I just switched from the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s to the Continental DWS06 Plus. I've put about 300 miles on the Continentals. The ride on the Continentals is noticeably smoother and quieter comparted to the Michelins.
Continental Extreme Contacts DWS plus 06 EXCEL in wet performance...It's ones I've probably had over 10 sets of 4 on different VW's over the decades, 17+ VW lots of miles, lots of driving previously. Current 2019 Golf rrrrrr is Conti Extreme DWS, superb stuff.
Continental truecontact tour. There's a newer version but as I understand it it's essentially the same tire. Much better handling in the rain. They were slightly noisy at first but I don't notice it anymore, that was probably just from the breakin period.
I swapped wheels for 16's and I think my fuel efficiency overall is about the same as before. City fuel economy may be slightly better because of lower wheel weight, highway economy slightly worse due to drag from less aero rims. But I'm not sure if there's really any difference.
I wish mine had had all seasons, they'd have suited me better. I got ecoContact6's.
Continental DWS06.
Heard great reviews of people saying this was an amazing all season tire with tons of grip in all conditions, great for sports cars year round that see some winter use too.
My god these tires felt hard as a rock compared to the Michelin A/S3+ I had on another set of wheels. Just not as much grip at all as I was expecting in the dry. Even in light snow, my TC light would flash more than when I was on the Michelins.
