Tires MICHELIN or GISLAVED
Just FYI, there’s a Michelin AS4 now. Much better ride, quieter and slightly better snow performance than the rough and loud AS3+ (I’ve had both on this car). Just note that any of these performance snow tires are not good snow tires by any stretch. If you’re in the Northeast, get proper snows. I’m in Austin and have them just for trips to NM, but wouldn’t want to use them for proper winters.
I forgot to put my Nokian winter tires on last season and my Michelin pilot sport AS3 tires did NOT remind me I was on all season tires during our ski country, lake effect snow ridden winter.
Our AS3 and my Continentals have historically worn smoothly, although the Michelin wear much better. Without really thinking about it I'm not sure how many miles we have on our AS3 but they are a lot of miles and even on the all-wheel drive car they have worn completely smoothly and evenly without a single hitch. Rotations with oil changes is all they get.
I'm personally impressed with cross climate 1 and 2 versions, used them for years managed to get up snowy hills proper awd's with less capable tyres couldn't get up.
Noticed no noise increase in the tesla, grip is still amazing and unlike some brands they grip well even down to the wear markers
I have the Cross Climate 2’s. No regrets.
Not any noisier that I’ve noticed from the OEM Michelins. About 5% efficiency hit for me.
Tried some mich sport pilots, range killer. In the winter 20% loss but the cae handled so much better....
I've got the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on my M3 Sr+. Europe.
I still say switching to Michelin Pilot Sport 3 All seasons was the best choice I made; a bit lower efficiency but they are actually a decent width so you have some protection from curb rash. They also have significantly better rating on all performance metrics and are cheaper then the Primacy.
The Michelin PS4 DT1 tires are very good for road-use, plenty of grip, handle wet roads without any fuss, and I think they'll last me 20.000km or so, even with some light trackday use.
I've moved on to other tires but I can't help but remember all the times I heard the lie "Michelin is discontinuing the Energy Saver A/S"!
