Tires MICHELIN or OEM Toyota
The Michelin Primacy 4 plus extra load is not a bad option for the 86. Bit less grip for more fun, good durability compared to the pilot sport. Little bit cheaper too.
Mine is amazing in the snow. Winnipeg. Running x-ice.
I replaced with cross climate 2s, they did great in the snow
I have Michelin X-Ice/Snow tires and they work great ???????? I live in northern Wisconsin where they rarely plow the roads.
This winter I have Crossclimates on and it is like a completely different car. It just finds grip everywhere.
I like the 300 tw summer street tires, MPS4S and ECS02 when you’re shopping for this in between segment. They’re my daily driver tires and I find them quite fun to autocross and pretty much right next to the non-fast summer tires but you’ll get 20k-30k street miles out of them.
I have Michelin defender ltx m/s2’s on my truck and have been researching tires to put on next. I keep coming back to these. Seem to be best for noise/longevity/quality and have a ton of sipes that make them a good snow tire. I don’t see myself changing up.
I almost purchased those tires. I chose the Michelin CrossClimate2 instead. Mostly bc I was worried about highway mpg.
I have them on my Lexus ES300h and drove with them coast-to-coast across the entirety of Canada in the dead of winter, then back again in the summer. I found them to be really great performers in winter, even in nearly tire-high snow, and I never had a moment where I was worried about slipping or sliding, even through the Rockies in white-out conditions. HOWEVER... I find them to be too noisy in the summer. I can see the fuel efficiency drop on road trips in the summer as well, and I'm not sure I'd run them year-round again knowing what I know now.
These Primacys should be recalled from Michelin or at a minimum they should cover the costs to replace/remove foam balance etc.
