Tires Nexen or Nokia
The Nokians are a solid choice. After extensive research I went with Michelin X-Ice for better hydroplaning and lower rolling resistance. All other testing categories were within the margin of error.
From our personal experience and also clients’ feedback we have had much better performance with the Sport R compared to the RT660. Autocross conditions will have the Sport R need a little more warmup, however it does not fall off as much as the RT660 (especially after heat cycles) and yes longevity is much longer on the Sport R. The RT660 also has a tread splicing issue that we really don’t like to see in a performance tire.
Blizzaks are great. Nokian Hakkapeliitta's are out of this effing world.
Not sure what you went with but the Nokian WR G4 are great tires. I've used 4 pairs of the WR type of tires over 15 years in Michigan, Oregon, Utah(In the Canyon), Washington and Colorado on a front wheel and AWD drive SUVs/cars. They work great and are snow tires.
Go for the Nokian Hakkapeliitta. Best tires by far! They're not cheap but definitely worth it. I have the studded ones on both of my vehicles and they're bullet proof
I ran the Sport R on my ES MR2 after V730. The wear was better, better feel all around and probably slightly faster
I got the Nokian wrg4 for my wife's 2001 Lexus rx300 and have been very impressed. Still less than 1000 miles on them though so can't speak for the longevity.
While I agree that these tires have lived a full life and should be replaced, it’s impressive how well these tires have held up after 15 years. Nexen - I’m impressed.
I've sold a ton of Nexen tires and used them on all my loaner cars. I never buy the N5000's though. I stick to the Classe Premier line so CP641 and CP672 tires. I use them on my mother in law's Jetta and I have the Nexen Rodian HP on my Wife's MB R350. Decent tires. Not the best but for the price, they work very well.
They should be replaced immediately. The nexen tires are crap.
