Just got my Nokian Hakkapeliitta R's installed. Bring it on!
From what I can tell (never owing a set) the Nokians are the best.
I'm at over 50,000 miles on my WR SUVs and still have a lot of treadlife left.
I had the WRs for 50 K until I got too many flats on them that they could not be repaired anymore. Anyway they were great for 50K and awesome in the snow.
Nitto Neo Gen tire received second place overall with the editors commenting that the Nitto Neo Gen had basically tied with first place. The Neo Gen received a ranking of Very Good in both dry and wet braking and Good in both dry and wet handling and hydroplaning. The Neo Gen also received high marks for noise, ride comfort and rolling resistance, scoring Very Good for all categories. The Neo Gen was also one of the most affordable tires tested. Because of the Neo Gen's balance of dry and wet performance, and ride comfort, the editors recommended it as one of their top picks.
The WR G2's look like really nice tires. I've driven two winters and 6 days worth of Audi Club Winter driving school on my older generation WR's and I've only burned off 2mm of tread.
I have this tire from discount and so far I've been really impressed. Good ride, quiet, and its done everything I've asked performance wise.
I have Nitto 555's and I love them. Best tires I've ever owned.
I had Nitto NeoGen's on my Volvo s40 and I loved them. They kept tread for almost 2 years and were sticky on dry roads. Not bad in wet either.
Love them in deeper snow and slushy road but the trade off on dry pavement is HUGE. With the Hakka, my car is dancing all around. I hate that...
