Tires NITTO or Vredestein
I had Nitto RidgeGrapplers… I had them for 4 years and had tons of tread left after 40000 miles until I got a new job where my truck stayed on that dark asphalt 10 hours a day and they started cracking
Nitto Nomad Grappler. I replaced my Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail's with these on my Crosstrek. On road, I find that the hydroplaning resistance is notably better than the Wildpeaks. They also ride a little bit softer. In terms of softroading, they perform pretty much identically.
I threw some of those on my 2021 Limited. They look good, drive smooth on normal roads, and looking forward to snow in my area to really feel the grip. They are 3PMS rated.
Actually just got those tires put on barely 2 weeks ago, took advantage of the rebate and good price on tire rack. I wasnt familiar either with the brand but after doing some research they are very well known and liked in Europe, they are made in Holland. I didnt want to buy new wheels til next summer so ended up getting the stock tire size 235 35 by 19 on the stock wheel. i cant speak on how they perform in the snow quite yet but so far so good, they give you a 10-15% stiffer ride specially in race mode compared to my stock goodyear summer tire but i was expecting that. so far so good! Specially for the price im a fan.
I went from the OEM 245/40R19 on my '19 non-R SEL-P to 245/45R18 for winter.
Can only speak for the nittos personally, but they are a good tire imo. Can never go wrong with a nitto.
Ridge grapplers. I was amazed how quiet they are for 37s, I’ve got about 10k on mine now and they still look new, cool looking tread.
Have 2 other buddies running the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in a 35” and they are a really nice looking tire and so far getting great milage out of them as well.
I've bought a set of quatrac 5 vredesteins for my X5 ... 2.5/3 years ago ... about halfway worn after 25k miles.
To be honest, in the dry ... easy to reach and surpass the adhesion limit at moderate speeds, feel is mehh at best. Quiet tires, decent tread life, comfortable but no where near the advertised levels. Currently during the winter ... moderate snow ... nothing spectacular, slightly better grip off the line than the duellers, fairly predictable, but a bit short on lateral grip ... so if you are braking and trying to cut a corner on snow ... better be awake so you don't end up in a ditch nose first.
I had them on my 2013 GT. They did not hook up well, and I was stock. They were also noisy. I’d choose something else.
