I daily my RWD BMW Z4 in Chicago. I invested into Nokian winter tires and never had issues with being stuck.
I use Nokian Hakkepellitas for Calgary winters. They’ll do what you need in Toronto.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta is your best answer. These tires run toe to toe with everything else available on snow and ice acceleration and handling and beat everything else on stopping ability on snow and ice.
I have a set on my S4 and they're the best winter tire I've owned after having had xIces, SottoZeros and studded WeatherMasters
I run them on both the wife’s Q5 and my WRX. I’ve run Blizzaks and Toyo winter tires and the Nokian tires are head and shoulders better than those
the Nokian R5 is incredible. I used to live next to a ski resort, and the tire killed it in cold weather, ice, deep snow, the works
I bought these tires in October 2022. Not impressed. High pitched loud whine on the highway. Big flakes of the tire coming off on 2. Contacted the place I bought them from and they said it was due to rough road. I’ve always had a gravel driveway and never had this happen before 0/10 on durability and pleasantness of ride. 30000 miles and down to 30% tread already. I wouldn’t buy them again.
Bought these Nokian One tires brand new less than 2 years ago. DOT code shows they were manufactured 2 years ago.
Mechanic says it's dry rot and I need to replace them in a few months max.
