Tires OEM Chevrolet or OEM Volkswagen
Haven't done a super long road trip in my MK8.5 - but have done a few 200mi trips. The car absolutely eats up the miles. Seats are super comfortable, cabin noise is tolerable, and I averaged 34MPG both ways cruising between 72 and 80. I personally despise adaptative cruise control, so I immediately turned it off (aggressive Boston traffic makes it unbearable). I did keep the lane assist on which is fine, not as good as the lane keep in my Raptor, but works very well. I'm more than happy with the ride, and once I get on to some smooth pavement, the 200 treadwear tires really quiet down.
My experience is briefer: 3 years with a Bolt EUV. I bring it in for tire rotations and maintenance wise that’s pretty much it.
I have since tuned my GTI and installed summer tires, it has only further cemented my decision. Now the car pulls harder but you still have to work with the car to put the power to ground.
had so much fun today! no videos unfortunately but first in class and almost upset an STH guy, lol the car did great on the 240tw, 41psi. sport mode with esc fully off. lots of grip even though i was overdriving a bit.
I'm running 205 50 17 on oem vw Gavia 17x6.5 et 46 for Winter and 225 45 17 on oem vw Valencia 17x7.5 et 51 for Summer. These are the recommended oem sizes.
These tires were just taken off a two-week old 2022 Volkswagen GTI. The tires were driven lightly during break-in period before dismounting with only 315 miles on them. They are in as-new condition.
Overall the I found the GTI was very impressive at a track that doesn't cater to FWD and with terrible 560tw all seasons.
I think the single largest shortcoming is the tires. After that, probably the suspension. After I owned it for about 6 months I noticed that driving over potholes and speedbumps was not nearly as good as I was expecting out of a lifted car.
The ride on 20" are quite harsh when compared to all other smaller wheels sizes with the same tires. I got 20" for both summer and winter, rosario ones, obviously with different tires and the winter tires with have a softer widewall and generally more rubber not being a low profile tires rides much better than the summer tires.
The gti tired are crap
