Tires Pirelli or Continental
After some research, I decided to give the Contis another try. Except this time, I went with the Trail casing in the Endurance compound out back and Soft in the front (Kryptotal Fr and Re again). Took them out on the trails this morning and it was an entirely different experience from my first one with Contis. They were fast, light, and still had that great traction I remembered. To my surprise, even with the lighter casing, the sidewalls were still nice and supportive. I even hit some chunky rock gardens and they held their line perfectly without pinging the rim.
I got a set of Pirelli Scorpion Weather Active SL tires to replace the OEM rubber. These are also TPMS tires and at this point, I am very happy with them. They have great traction in snow (not as good as a pure winter tire, but close), are quiet and ride well. Handling is about the same.
I just changed mine out for the Pirelli Scorpions somebody else mentioned, and they’re great.
This post was made last year. I am now in a new vehicle, again with DWS06+ now my 3rd car with them and they are by far my favorite tires I've ever ran. They're perfect for a DD imo. Perfect balance between performance longevity comfort and road noise.
On my MK7.5, I’m currently running CONTINENTAL EXTREME CONTACT DWS 06 PLUS and absolutely love them! They’re probably the best tires I’ve run on the 4 GTIs I’ve owned over the years!!! 👍🏾
Me and my friend both are using continental UC6 on our cars. It seems to work well both on my rapid and his 2017 city.
Im loving Pirelli All Weather. Winter changeover not needed.
I have been mostly happy with the OEM Pirelli Scorpion A/T tires, and I would agree with you about the acoustics. Something strange I have experienced with the Pirelli Scorpion tires is that they have continued to get quieter after my second tire rotation. Also, with 30,000 miles on them, they do not have the same grip as new, and they break free more easily under full acceleration.
I recently got a set of pirelli at plus for my 3rd gen tacoma. Almost every morning when first driving I get a steering wheel shake at about 60 mph and then goes away after about a mile, had the tires re balanced, and road forced, still does the same thing. From discount tire…..i complained when I initially had them put on, they replaced all 4 with new ones and still had the same issue….i think its just a pirelli thing.
The Pirelli p zeros on my m sport 330e has been a nightmare. I swapped them out at least 3x in two years (live in NYC with lots of potholes).
