Tires Pirelli or DUNLOP
I'm on my second set of PZero Nero A/S on my MKIV in 7 years. They handled a few decent snows that we had in MD/DC when I lived up there just fine. I have no complaints about them.
My 2012 GLI came with Pirelli PZero Nero A/S tires on it. It handles incredibly well, not sure how much of that is GLI and how much is the tires, but definitely no complaints here.
I had Pirelli snows last year and they worked great
I bought 4 Dunlop tires on Tire Rack some 3 yrs ago for my Passat B5.
Tires are a great value. Good handeling in Dry and some wet. Started to get noise from them at 20K. Should rotate every 5k and should last a little longer than the 30K I got.
The top rated tire in this class was a Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season tire.
I'm pretty happy with how things came out with the tires. We really haven't had any snow where I live to really try them out, but in the cold weather, even the dry traction is worlds better than the PZeros that came on the care---despite being an inch smaller and a good amount narrower (235 vs 255).
I went with steelies and 16". I actually run 16" 55 series Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires. They are OK but not magic. I actually really love the look of plain black painted steel wheels on my lava grey A3. When I put my normal wheels back on in the spring I'm always disappointed.
i also get this! my car has 20k and I am ready for new tired my pirelli are crap! hopefully that fixes the issue...
you probably had the same OEM dunlops that i had. those things were absolute garbage. i drove for a year in fear of driving over windy bridges with those things. after i changed tires, it was a whole new car.
