I got the Pirelli P-Zero AS+3 UHP all seasons in a 235/40/18 size for my summer setup. They are slightly louder than the stock Kumhos and are fantastic in the rain.
I was very satisfied with pirelly ice zero 2.
Since you are driving in wet asphalt a lot, maybe Pirelli Ice Zero 2, which was selected as best by Teknikens Värld last year.

My pzero’s last up to 15k of aggressive street driving on my 2016 mustang gt. Every autocross day takes off 1000 miles, every track day takes off 2k ish. I more or less buy a set a year, but i love how well they handle on the street, how predictable they are on the track, and they don’t love autocross but i like the challenge there.

My last car was a bmw M4 and it came with Pirelli p zeros. They were great in warm dry conditions but not great in the rain. They are summer tires so no grip at all under 40 degrees. They only lasted 12000 miles before they were under 4/32.
I my area I could’ve almost gotten four Yokohamas for that price, including mound and balance. So yeah, I think he shafted you.
The worst tire had to be Yokohama geolanders. They would break traction so much in the rain it was terrifying.
