225/45R18 Nokians on aluminum Aspen Satin Black rims. Working fine so far, live just Southwest of Toronto though so not too much snow so far.
I'm from Quebec and I have Fast FC04 19x8.5 Bronze wheels with 225/40R19XL NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA R3 .
During the chaos, my set of APTs faced deep puddles, slush, powder snow, deep snow compact snow, and ice, and many hills. Quite the shakedown indeed. But in one word, confidence! I had no problems driving off on a stand-still on either level or uphills, and no problems stopping whatsoever. My car was stable and I was in complete control at all times.
I put some Nokian WR G4s on my wife's 2017 Outback when we had that. It was a beast in the snow and I am a Nokian lifer now.
I’m putting Nokian Entyre 2’s on as soon as I need them. I’ve run them on 3 other vehicles and they are fantastic.
I had WRG4s on a previous vehicle in Ontario. They are great shoulder season tires, and are manageable in the winter.
I have been running the 14" tiger paws for over 5 years on my Mk3 2.0 Jetta and have loved them.
Nokian hakkapeliitta are also good and reliable.
Nokian is better on Snow and ice, less tread life
Michelin is better on wet and dry, but still decent in snow, better tread life
Have a look at the Bridgestone Weatherpeak as well, better tread life and easily comparable to the Nokian in snow and ice.
I went with Nokian One to replace my stock Nexens, I regret it. There is less wheel spin (still some if I put it in sport and floor it) but the efficiency seems to have taken a small hit and they’re so loud.
