Tires Uniroyal or WEST LAKE
Naka Westlake din ako for 2 years na. Mostly city driving and occasional highways. I can say na okay na okay for its price.
I had Tiger Paws on my old 2020 Trax and that car never budged in snow. It’s not even full time awd.
Budget option? Uniroyal Tiger Paw A/S Touring (Michelin tier 3 brand, really solid lesser known/ran but recommend them dollar for dollar over most Michelins)
I went 2” larger overall diameter tire (factory 27” to 29”) and went from a regular oem tire to walmart (west lake ) ATs. And I only saw a very small change in average mpg, aprox 32.1 down to 29.8mpg.
Mag 5 years na westlake na gulong ko. Wala naman naging issue.
Okay naman ang Westlake sa experience ko. Mapa city driving or long drive. This is perfect for my budget and usage. Di naman ako daily drive so I opted to buy Westlake tires para makatipid na din.
The only weird na nanotice ko is parang ang ingay na gulong pagdinadaan sa baha.
judging from the conversation here, I think I'll go for Westlake ????
Any tire sold in the us is safe to put on your car, the west lake rp18 is a knock off of a continental tire, I have heard good things about it in terms of value for money
I got the cheapest snow tires possible for my first set, Uniroyal TigerPaw on Steelies. They suck on dry pavement. I had to floor it on a turn from a standstill as I realized someone was doing 80+ through the light I was taking a left at. Ive never had all four tires spin on dry pavement in any subaru Ive owned.
Westlake tires are becoming a "known" brand name. It still doesn't change the fact they are a low end Chinese tire. That said, they will wear out fast as with all other Chinese tires the tread compound is very soft (low treadware rating). They don't hug corners well, there not fantastic at shuttling water, they are horrible in adverse terrain/weather, & they can be difficult to balance.
