Tires YOKOHAMA or Maxxis
I\u2019ve been really really happy with Yokohama Geolandar AT/S on my Forester. I\u2019m on the second set are great in any setting, and extremely quiet and long wearing for how aggressive they are.
I got 19 inch Yokohama Advan A/S for $800. I have the Mazda 6 sport that came with 17 inch Yokohamas from the dealership. I upgraded my rims to 19 inch so I decided ided to get Yokohamas again.
I had geolander a/ts on my old ZJ and I've never driven a better vehicle in the snow than that.
I had a set of these on my old GMT400 Suburban, and I loved them.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T. I picked these out for my mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. They aren't loud, they work well in all weather conditions (reason for getting them was for snow/all season because she doesn't drive enough to warrant snow tires).
On my XC hardtail I have a Maxxis 2.4 Ardent on the front, and a Maxxis 2.2 Ikon on the rear. It is a great combo so far.
I just put some 2.25" Maxxis Ardent TR EXOs on my Trek 29er and they have been awesome so far. Tons of grip compared to the bontragers I had (cheaper ones that came with my bike).
Maxxis all the way. Seem to be the best combo of grip, price, durability, and weight.
Ardent rolls well but is lacking in traction. If you want to take corners fast, I would stay away from Ardent in the front - there is a dead zone between the middle and side knobs that will feel vague especially when cornering.
Yeah, made the mistake of buying Chinese tyres a while back, damn things would understeer into corners and oversteer out and that was summer driving, fortunately work picked up and I was able to swap them out for a set of new Yokohamas, still the scariest 3 months of driving I\`ve had in 40+ years of driving.
