Water pump AISIN or OEM Audi
The AISIN WPT-190 I bought on Amazon for $142 was was legit OEM. AISIN box etc. Toyota was scratched off the unit as expected.
AISIN WPT-190 is $143 on Amazon. Directly comparing it with one from bought from dealer. Aside from the box, they look identical with the same plastic wrap.
The water pump is probably the one part on any car I wouldn't cheap out on. Just get an Aisin as the other commenter said.
I quite enjoyed our 2.7t, it was stock and trouble free for all 200,000km. Not a single coilpack, turbo, nothing, oil changes and a timing belt/water pump service at 160,000km.
Aisin. The bearings in the idlers are better, the tensioner is better, and the water pump wont fail on you in 20k miles.
To answer the second question, bro, this happens to every Audi owner. Like it’s extremely common for water pumps to fail, mine is In the shop to get a new water pump, and my guys noticed there was 2 small oil leaks.
Audi doesn't have the best record with water pumps and housings. On the 8V S3, the pump would start to leak, but it would drip onto the splash guard and never make it to the ground. The only signs were coolant smell and frequently needing to top off the coolant.
2017 Q7 3.0T. Steadily using more oil over life of car. Now a quart every 350 miles. It doesnt have the power it used too. $1500 for a new water pump at 54,000 miles.
The only issue I’ve had with Audi over about 200k miles split between an 87 cs turbo Quattro and a 15 a5 cabrio is they each needed a water pump around 90k
100% oem or Aisin, I bought a knock off on amazon and it failed in 2 months.
