  • Overheating:

I would STRONGLY recommend you to buy ONLY a BMW stamped WP. I learned my lesson the hard way and want to help you avoid my mistakes. The main thing that fails in electric water pumps is the electronics, and the ones not stamped with a BMW logo often have these issues.

Pros: reliable, avoids electronics issues

OEM BMW Water pump

Same shit different box. Sometimes the aftermarket takes care of issues as well like bmw and older Audi/Vw plastic water pump impellers, where most aftermarket ones are metal.

Pros: aftermarket takes care of issues
Cons: plastic water pump impellers
Vehicle: BMW

Mine was still going at 123k. I did have a shadow code (2E85) but that had been there for years. I decided to replace it out of caution and. Now have about 10k on the new one.

Cons: shadow code for years
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 10000 km

OEM Toyota Water pump

My Tundra was awesome, but guzzled fuel and I drive like an old grandpa. 13-14 mpg is expected. Also, Tundras are fairly expensive to maintain compared to Ford. My water pump went out and it was about $1k to get fixed.

Pros: Tundra was awesome
Cons: guzzled fuel, expensive maintain
Vehicle: Toyota Tundra
