Water pump OEM Toyota or OEM Volkswagen
Just had this fail on our wagon (EA888 Gen 3) and independent shop charged $900 but that included the OEM full water pump assembly (not a rebuild, brand new) along with coolant flush and a few gaskets.
I have a 2015 R and my water pump failed in January, about 2 months before my warranty expired. It was covered by the dealer under the warranty so not sure what the cost was. Pump and thermostat were both replaced.
Water pump refinement Again, not looking for anything miraculous here, just making for a smoother flow.
Just had my water pump replaced about a month ago to resolve the issue during my 40k service — hoping it holds. Techs at local VW dealership took about two days to locate the issue and make sure it could hold pressure. I was covered under power train warranty
The water pump on my 2017 mk7 lasted nearly 100k miles before crapping out on me. :( Quite a pricey repair job, that was.
Replaced mine when it started leaking at 107,000km… man it’s annoying
They replaced the water pump after it failed around 35k on my 2017 alltrack.
Failed on my 2016 after 1 year and 17K.
Mine failed in my 2015 Golf after 11,000km.
My 2016 Mk7 GTI is on its 4th water pump/thermostat housing. The first replacement happened at about 27K miles, the second failed at 63K miles, and the third failed at 72K miles. I fully expect this one to leak again soon. I find it ridiculous that VW/Audi don't fix a faulty part after all these years. The plastic thermostat housing is to blame. Instead of a metal housing which can handle the thermal stresses, they continue to use a plastic housing which will start leaking sooner or later.
