Windshield OEM BMW or OEM KIA
Called one and they worked it to get an OEM windshield through my BMW dealer and installed themselves. HUD, collision and rain sense all working as before. No issues.
My BMW X5 windshield broke on the way home from the dealership. These windshields, or the construction of the car and the pressure on the glass is a huge problem. Folks all over the internet with the same issues.
Not even a mile from the dealer, noticed a small crack at the base of the windshield, about an inch. They filled the crack, but i do not feel comfortable with this at all. I asked about this specifically before buying, and the dealer tried to make me feel like an idiot, like this was a nonissue! Low and behold, here I am, waiting for my winshield to explode on me.
A tiny pebble hit the windshield going less than 40 mph on a small road in Montana, cracked the windshield about 8 inches.! The crack spread another 4-5 inches. Was pissed the windshield cracked. Didn't even have 6k miles on the car. Kia supposedly fixed the eggshell windshield problems, but they haven't. The resin on the telluride windshield has finally given up and a new crack has spread out from this initial crack and traveled about 12 inches out from the other crack. Don't even want another factory Kia windshield, want something stronger.!
Hi. I purchased windshield replacement protection (insurance) for my 2018 x1 through my local BMW dealer. The windshield got a chip and the dealership patched the chip saying the windshield did not need to be replaced. The window then cracked all the way across a few months later and my claim was denied because the windshield was already chipped. Annoying to say the least, that I bought windshield protection but am not allowed to use it to replace my cracked windshield and had to pay full price for a new windshield. Needless to say I won't buy the add on protection services again.
The Stinger windshields are notorious for picking up chips. I got 3 major chips in the first 5k miles compared to 1 in 100k+ miles of driving my other vehicles in my urban area where it doesn't snow.
