Windshield OEM Subaru or OEM Volkswagen
had a large rock destroy the windshield of our Forester with EyeSight. The third-party shop (SafeLite) replaced it with OEM Subaru glass and recalibrated the EyeSight, and for the few months between then and trading it in we had no issues with the EyeSight at all.
The aftermarket glass may work well - but I can tell you with great confidence that the OEM glass is much less likely to deviate from what came in your new Subaru.
I got a crack in my windshield the first weekend of driving my Outback in 2017. A huge rock was kicked up on the interstate, I think most cars would’ve had the same result as my car.
Subaru glass is terrible.
Windshield protection plan is mandatory for me and it’s probably going to be a cycle of new windshields until engineering can thicken them without compromising eyesight visibility. Between the car lot and DMV I was chipped. Any car with such camera input output capabilities seems to have weak ass windshields
My 2024 Sport is 7 months old and several chips keep appearing. My 2013 Outback never had windshield pits as bad as this one.
I noticed 3 chips in the windshield but I was leaving for a trip the next day so I just let it ride. Traveling through Kansas I guess the windshield took a rock, and a crack formed in a completely different place. The windshield does chip easily.
Just had my windshield replaced. A chip turned into a crack sadly.
I think my windshield is more chiped than unchiped at this point.
My windshield broke 4 months into ownership. Windshield cracked hard but held. Terrified me. Driving home for the next 2 1/2 hours I watch the spider legs widen.
