Windshield OEM Toyota or Pilkington
Pilkinton/AGC are mighty fine.
My relative works for AGC (a direct competitor) and calls the glass “very good”. Moreover, I have it on my Corolla and I see no difference to the OEM. Actually, I’d argue much better than the EU original Sisecam.
I would definitely avoid Fuyao.
The final windshield was a Pilkington and it’s still going strong. It even took a strike outside of Vegas with a rock the size of a nickel. The Pilkington was installed by an independent installer and there was no problem with the eyesight.
I have Pilkington on my last 2 vehicles. I haven't had any issues with the quality of glass, waves, or rainbowing.
I find that they all vary. Even the 2977. Haven\u2019t run into issues from it though, yet.
My 2002 Toyota is perfectly unharmed...
I also got a pilkington replacement about 6 months ago. No problems with it, and at this point I entirely forgot.
The aftermarket Pilkington glass I got doesn't sit quite the same against the dashboard and headliner but it's acceptable. Figured I'd go for it after reading a few posts about the OEM Carlex glass cracking on the various Subaru subs.
I average a cracked windshield every 1.5 years at this point
Freaking windshield is a magnet for rocks on the street. Funny when I park by another 4Runner I keep looking for the vin# so far everyone I check have a replacement already
Over 15 years, I’ve put 4 windshields in my 2010. Prior to my 4Runner - 0.0 windshields in all other cars combined.
