Windshield Pilkington or OEM KIA
I put an aftermarket Pilkington windshield in mine and have no problems with it.
It was $400 installed and its the original Pilkington glass.
My first two windshields were Carlex brand, and they were trash. Both chipped multiple times from minor rock chips that ended up spiderwebbing even after repair. Anything has to be better than Carlex.
My 3rd and current windshield is Pilkington and so far seems great. Shrugged off a pretty nasty rock hit with barely a scuff.
I was able to find a small specialist shop that did mine for $400 flat. Not OEM but Pilkinton. I did not have him do the calibration, he said you don't need it if the install is done correctly. I have had zero issues since.
Replaced with my current glass which is Pilkington and it's been like 7 months without chips or cracks, which is the longest I've had an immaculate windshield in the entire time I've owned the car.
If it's Fuyao or Pilkington they are all pretty great, same as OEM if not better.
I have had pilkington glass before and they are a decent piece of glass, but not nearly as strong a Sekurit.
I had this happen on a previous Forte I had. A rock hit the black area (where the glass is glued) and the crack went across the whole glass. When rocks hit the black area it will almost always cause this type of damage because that part of the car holds a lot of structural weight for the car (vs say the middle of the glass). The glass safelite used was the actual oem glass so it made little difference.
I’m not sure if a rock hit it or what happened. I didn’t hear it or see it but I noticed the crack coming from the bottom driver side corner while driving. It has spread pretty quickly up into my line of sight and over to the passengers line of sight. I read online that there has been some issues with the glass used on the 2023 kias.
Not even a mile from the dealer, noticed a small crack at the base of the windshield, about an inch. They filled the crack, but i do not feel comfortable with this at all. I asked about this specifically before buying, and the dealer tried to make me feel like an idiot, like this was a nonissue! Low and behold, here I am, waiting for my winshield to explode on me.
